Welcome to Fall 2021 at Chemeketa! We want you to have a great experience this term. Here are some tips for getting off to a good start.

Where do I find information about college services?

Fall Term Textbooks

Chemeketa is offering FREE access to digital course materials this fall. The VitalSource Bookshelf provides students access to eTextbooks on or before the first day of class in Canvas. Check your student email for more information.

How do I know if my class is using an eTextbook?

Search the Bookstore’s textbook search for detailed information about optional and required course materials for all of your courses. Go to

How do I access my eTextbook in Canvas?

  1. Log in to Canvas at:

  2. Look for the VitalSource Course Materials link in your course menu to access your eTextbook.

  3. Click on the Read Now button for your eTextbook to launch the VitalSource Bookshelf viewer.

  4. Optional: Enter your email address to create your VitalSource Bookshelf account (required for  access using Bookshelf App or website).

How do I get a physical copy of my textbooks?

Copies of physical textbooks can be purchased from the Bookstore. Check the textbook search for availability. Copies may also be available to check out from the Lending Library.

Student IDs

If you are a new student at Chemeketa, you need to get your free student ID to help make sure you have easy access to everything at Chemeketa!

Where do you get your ID?

College Life Department in building 2/176, Salem campus. Students can also get their student ID at our Polk, Woodburn, and Yamhill Valley locations. Inquire locally about hours.

When is College Life in Salem open for ID’s?

  • Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm

  • Friday 10:00am – 3:00pm

What do I need to do?

  • Bring a piece of photo ID (drivers license, state issued ID, high school ID)

  • Be prepared to have you photo taken for your Chemeketa ID

  • Be registered for at least one fall term class
